Keeping your Kids Happy
A child has the simplest joy of all. Even if you buy them expensive toys they would opt for simple and ordinary toys like plastic cups, sticks, straws etc. Even a crumpled paper can turn into an awesome toy. My kids are my greatest fan. A simple snort or a loud sneeze can make them laugh. Sometimes when I play with them, it’s always a hit for them when I make funny faces and mimic voices of animals and their favorite cartoon. Once, while my youngest was enjoying her favorite cartoon show – Dora, I sang to hearts content the theme song of the show and she whimsically joined me dancing to it. Later in the day, their daddy bought them, each, a flute. You see, musical instruments are their favorite toy. We did a little musical show. My eldest and I blow the flute while my youngest danced to its beat. Their daddy even joked that we were like Indians playing to the cutest snake of all, my youngest one. It’s always a delight to play with my kids. You get to open your imagination. As Barney says, “You could do everything with your imagination.” My eldest is so fond of playing make-believe. She likes to act like a store-keeper and me as the customer. Even if the goods were imaginary she still acts as if it’s real. She hands me the goods after I give her the “imaginary” money. At other times she acts as a fast food service crew, manning the soda dispenser and ice-cream maker. It’s really funny how she gestures for the ice-cream maker even twirling the imaginary cup in her hands.
On weekends, we try to go out together and go to parks, zoos and in the bay area because my children loves open spaces and nature very much. My youngest likes to pick up flowers, stones and leaves. While my eldest glows at the sight of birds and different animals.
There was once a saying that goes “A CHILD that lives with happiness will find love and beauty.” Indeed. If we allow our children to experience the simplest and free things that life has to offer, they will be able to appreciate and find joy even on the simplest things that it won’t take that much for them to be happy.
