Forever Moments
Yesterday, I’m burning cds of some of our videos. While burning, I mesmerized what is in the videos. Our 1-year old, Addie, sliding inside a large box like it’s going to be her room for life. And then there is 2-year old Yssa with the flute while her little sister dances like a chubby snake to her remarkable music and more of Yssa taking pictures by herself (no need to enter school for photography).
Pictures and videos remind us of how days pass by so fast. Good thing we have those digital cameras, video cams and cellphones with cameras always ready to flash when our “precious moments” come.
TIPS:
TAKE A LOT OF PICTURES – It’s digital! You can just delete pictures you don’t want and save the best. What’s important is you will be able to capture every moments. Don’t let it slip by or you don’t want to remember yourself scratching your butt, do you? (But that would be a funny one to remember. Ok, don’t delete it.)
DON’T USE CELLPHONE CAMERAS FOR OCCASIONS – do you want to use a cellphone camera on your children’s graduation day? Or on their first birthdays? Cellphone cameras are very reliable in terms of availability but we know that their picture qualities are lower than other cameras. Cellphone cameras are best if you saw a UFO or things that rarely happens. The more blurry the picture is the more mythical and mysterious it would be. Hehe.
ALWAYS TRIPLE BACK-UP AND ERASE – Special moments only happen once in our lives. If your digital camera’s memory or its memory card is full and that special moment happened, that’s not my fault if you don’t have any more memory space. Always remember to triple back-up your files in your computer, some picture hosting sites, print and keep in a real album or burn them in your cds, which brings me to the fourth tip.
CHOOSE FOR THE BEST PIC HOSTING SITE – The best pic hosting site for me is free, of course, but also should have a robust website and server for your pictures. What I mean with robust is it shouldn’t be amenable to hackers and should always be up and available. But I guess you gotta pay for one that is like that. It should also have a user-friendly uploading tool, one that provides drag-and-drop tool. Also, if you want to save them to your computer, it should be easier to download them from the website. I host my pictures and videos in flickr, photobucket, youtube, multiply and friendster.
NAME YOUR FILES – My mother once joked me that I’m like a dog who didn’t remember where it hid its bones. She was asking me for some videos that I didn’t remember where I saved. I have a lot of albums in 3 different websites. Oh, make that 4. So always be sure to at least label the batch title of the pictures, for your ease of retrieval in the future.
CHARGE AND HAVE A SPARE BATTERY – When you go out and there’s nowhere you can charge your cameras, which, by the way, stresses us a lot, before leaving home, make sure it’s fully-charged!
And that moments will be there forever!
